CM Stalin Lays Foundation for ₹570 Cr Housing & Infra Projects in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation for housing and infrastructure projects worth ₹570 crore in Chennai on January 28. These include the construction of 2,404 tenements by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board and a ‘Unity Mall’ in Egmore to promote the state's handloom and handicraft industry.
The Unity Mall will showcase handloom products from across Tamil Nadu, featuring district and state-specific shops, an innovation center, and a design printing house. It will also include amenities like a cafeteria, elevators, restrooms, and fire safety systems.
The tenements, each measuring 400 sq. ft., will be built in Radhapuram, Ottanchathiram, and Kumarapalayam constituencies, with essential infrastructure such as roads, water supply, sewage systems, and rainwater harvesting. The Kumarapalayam project is backed by the Asian Development Bank.
Additionally, CM Stalin allocated ₹62.5 crore for the renovation of 2,500 temples and laid the foundation for a ₹15 crore fishing landing center in Kooduthalai, Radhapuram block, Tirunelveli.
