A major civil aviation infrastructure project at Air Force Station Leh was inaugurated by Kavinder Gupta, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, in the presence of Air Marshal JS Mann, Senior Air Staff Officer, Western Air Command. The inauguration marks a key milestone in strengthening aviation infrastructure in the high-altitude region and reflects close coordination between civil authorities and defence agencies.

The upgraded facilities were completed in record time despite challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions. The improvements will enable smoother aircraft ground movement, faster civil departures, reduced turnaround time and enhanced passenger convenience.

Enhanced air connectivity is expected to give a strong boost to tourism in the Leh sector, create economic opportunities and support local livelihoods. The upgraded infrastructure will also ensure more reliable air services and strengthen the region’s capacity for swift Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations, contributing to Ladakh’s long-term socio-economic development.
