Centre clears ₹780-cr for Kargil-Zanskar road upgrade
The Union government has approved ₹780 crore for upgrading the existing Kargil Zanskar national highway (NH 301) stretch into 2 lanes road under the EPC model. Before this, the Union transport ministry approved the up-gradation of the road stretch to national highway. This road from Zanskar valley also connects Suru valley, Sankoo valley of Kargil Ladakh with the Highway. It will help in the economic development of the remote region of Ladakh. After declaring the area as Union Territory, the pace of progress has been multiplied by the initiation of various projects like Zojjila Tunnel Construction, Improved Air Connectivity and an increase in the total road length by sanctioning various projects under CRF, PMGSY and other schemes.
