Center clears 2,600 km road building plans

Matching to its commitment to build world-class road infrastructure in the newly created state, Telangana, the Central government has recently cleared a mega plan to give complete facelift to 2600 km road length in the state. On this score, the Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari agreed to state's appeal for the roads' development into national highways besides extending help for land acquisition in military area in Secunderabad, state minister in the concerned ministry said, adding that the state had sought defense land for expansion of Paradise- Bowenpally road into four-lane national highway and help overcome hurdles in land acquisition of defense land. The Union minister also extended support for taking up road projects in Naxal-infested areas, dry port works and those road projects promised after the formation of Telangana, he said.
