CCEA approves ₹2,926-cr bridge in Bihar

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved construction of a 5,634-m long four-lane bridge across river Ganga at an investment of ₹2,926.42 crore. It is likely to be commissioned by early 2023, said Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The mega project will be 14.5-km long and pass through Patna, Saran and Vaishali districts of Bihar and will include a 5,634-m long major bridge parallel to the existing old Mahatma Gandhi Setu, 4 Vehicular Underpasses (VUPs), one Rail Over Bridge (RoB), 1,580-m long viaduct, 110-m long flyover, 4 minor bridges, 5 bus shelters and 13 road junctions. Currently, there are 13 bridges on the river Ganges between Allahabad and Farakka and an additional 20 are under construction since the last four-and-half years.
