Bullet Train's Longest River Bridge Under Construction on Narmada

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor will span the Narmada River in Gujarat, a vital water resource for the region. A 1.4 km bridge, the longest in Gujarat for this project, is being built between Surat and Bharuch stations.
The bridge, supported by 25 well foundations, faces challenges from the river's deep and unstable bed. Some foundations are as deep as 77.11 meters, surpassing the height of the Qutub Minar. The project encountered setbacks during the 2023 monsoon, with floods from the Sardar Sarovar Dam disrupting construction.
Despite these hurdles, 19 out of 25 foundations are complete, and the erection of the superstructure has begun, showcasing the dedication of the engineering teams.
