Bokaro Steel Plant to Undergo ₹20,000 Cr Expansion

Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy

Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy has announced a ₹20,000 crore expansion plan for the Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. The initiative will increase the plant’s production capacity from 5.25 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 7.55 MTPA.

During his visit to the plant, the minister emphasized the importance of India achieving self-sufficiency in steel production as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The expansion will include the construction of a new blast furnace and additional facilities to support increased production.

This investment aligns with the government’s vision to strengthen domestic steel manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports, contributing to India’s growing infrastructure and industrial needs.
