BMC braces for multi-utility infra projects

The civic estate department of the Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after managing to extend the lease of 202 plots, acquired from Cidco for various utility purposes, is currently in the process of acquiring some more plots from Cidco and MIDC. The extended exercise will help the administration to go ahead with long-term development plans for the plots. The NMMC has leased 126 plots for the purpose of creating the required infrastructure including gardens, parking lots, grounds, an exhibition ground, 21 school playgrounds, 25 daily markets and water bodies for 60 years. The estate department has also managed to get 110 more plots demarcated as the process is essential for the civic body to undertake development work. On the acquired land, the body will build gardens on the 48 plots, 27 playgrounds, 22 open spaces, 5 social service plots, 2 tree belts and 3 steel markets. The department is also getting 98 more public utility plots from Cidco over and above the 541 plots already transferred for building similar facilities.
