BMC awards Rs. 176-cr bridge projects

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has awarded four bridge projects including the Hancock bridge at Byculla near Sandhurst Road entailing an investment worth Rs. 176cr, said official sources, adding that the Civic Standing Committee cleared the proposal, which also comprised a bridge at Lokhandwala creek in Andheri, a railway level-crossing bridge at Vikhroli and reconstruction of a bridge on the Mithi River near Dharavi. The infra builders walked away with the projects included RPS Infraproject and J Kumar Infraproject by submitting the lowest bids wherein J Kumar submitted its bid for the creek and Hancock bridges, and RPS Infra for the railway level-crossing and Mithi bridges. At a recently held meeting, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Sanjay Deshmukh, placed the bridge construction proposal before the committee, which finally cleared the same and awarded the projects, they added.
