Bihar braces for 12,500 km road network

In an attempt to provide all weather road connectivity in rural heartland of the state, the state government in Bihar has decided to build 12,500km under the Grameen Tola Sampark Nischay Yojana' (GTSNY) covering hamlets having more than 100 population in the state. During a high-level meeting attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to review the GTSNY of Rural Works Department, its Secretary Vinay Kumar gave a detailed presentation about the scheme and informed that there are 15,746 hamlets, having more than 100 population and they do not have road connectivity in the State. On this score, around 2,200 acres of land would be acquired and that the state CM directed officials to speed up the land acquisition and road building process, said official sources.
