In order to provide transport facilities to the rail users of the region, the Central Railway (CR) has recently given its in-principle approval to the proposed Pune Metro Rail Project which was necessary as portion of the metro project passes through the railway land in the city. In this connection, the CR recently sent a letter to the Pune Municipal Commissioner informing the administration about the decision, said sources, elaborating that since the issue of approval from Railways for the project was raised during the preliminary Public Investment Board (PIB) meeting at Delhi recently and then the concerned state minister met Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and conveyed the urgency, which prompted the railways to clear the project.
