Bhopal braces for Rs. 22,504-cr metro projects

The MP Chief Minister has instructed officials to expedite the work of metro rail projects in Bhopal ensuring economic viability of projects. In the review meeting, the government officials also discussed about the routes to be included in the first phase of the project. Commissioner Urban Administration and Development and Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vivek Agrawal said, while giving a detailed presentation on status of the projects entailing an investment of Rs. 22,504.25cr. It will have seven routes with multiple lengths of 95.03 kms of which, 84.83 kms will be elevated. The first phase will have two routes, Karond-AIIMS measuring 14.99 kilometers and Bhadbhada-Ratnagiri with a length of 12.88 kms and the first phase of the project will cost Rs. 6,962cr. The State government is negotiating with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Asian Development Bank to fund the mega project, said official sources.
