Ensuring safety of the public and to decongest the main roads connecting metro stations, Phase-II of Namma Metro, the project contractor has decided to build service roads connecting entrances of all its elevated stations. Phase-II of Metro runs a total length of 72.095 km of which 13.79 km is underground, 0.48 km is at grade and 57.825 km is elevated. This phase will have 61 stations and is an extension of the East-West and North-South Corridors of Phase-I. The plan to have service roads at both entries of each Metro station has been finalized for all the 49 elevated stations. This will ensure that the main carriageway in front of the Metro station does not get clogged or overcrowded with vehicles halting there, Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, Pradeep Singh Kharola said.
