Assam launches Rs. 250-cr road project

Assam road project
Adding to its road network, the state government in Assam has recently launched a new multi-development project at Tingkhong area at an investment worth Rs. 250 crore. The Chief Minister after formerly launching the project said that road communication and infrastructure are chief criteria for development and progress of a region. Industrial development of a region cannot be achieved without development of road communication in general and infrastructure in particular. As an effort towards achieving the same, he said, a total of 9,000 km road in rural areas would be constructed under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana. The step has been undertaken for augmenting all-round development of 26,000 villages of the State. In a related development, the State PWD (Road) stated that 13 of the 22 projects targeted in the road sector have already been completed.
