In a major boost to Guwahati’s urban infrastructure, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed flyover connecting Rukminigaon Road and Bormotoria Link Road at Downtown Point. Completed in just nine months, half the originally sanctioned period of 18 months. The ₹112 crore, 660-metre-long four-lane flyover has been named Bhagadatta Flyover-2 in honour of King Bhagadatta of ancient Kamarupa.
The existing flyover in the city’s Super Market area will now be referred to as Bhagadatta Flyover-1, marking a coordinated naming convention for key infrastructure in the region.
