AP announces Rs. 18000-cr road project

In order to provide top class connectivity to its new state capital, the state government of Andhra Pradesh has planned a mega road project worth Rs. 18,000-cr from Anantapur to Rayalaseema and then to the new Capital City of Amaravati, said Transport and R&B Minister, Sidda Raghava Rao, adding that the straight road to be funded by the Centre once ready, and reducing the travel time between the two cities to just six hours. A team of officials comprising Roads &Buildings Principal Secretary, Sam Bob, Engineer in Chief, are currently visiting San Francisco on a study tour on the execution of such projects. While the length of roads under R&B is 45,000 km, nearly 4,000 km single-lane roads are to be widened into two-lane roads, he said.
