AP to float tenders for ₹3,736-cr Ramayapatnam Port

Port Project
The state government has decided to float tenders for the construction and allied civil work of Ramayapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh entailing an investment of ₹3,736 crore in the next fortnight. The state cabinet has cleared the DPR for the first phase of port work. The project will give a push to the development of the backward Prakasam district as the state is contemplating to complete the first phase work within 36 months and has released ₹100 crore for the acquisition of about 800-acre land for phase-I. The DPR readied by the Rites Consultancy Firm noted that at least 2,200 acres of land would be needed for the project and another 3,000 acres would be needed for the development of the industrial corridor. The masses living in and around the district are optimistic and are ready to offer the land at cheaper rates as most of the land is uncultivable.
