The Andhra Pradesh government has planned to build 5.39 lakh affordable housing units for the urban poor in the state under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the next one and half years, the concerned minister said, elaborating that the state has been sanctioned the highest number of houses under PMAY (Urban), the Minister of State (independent charge), Housing and Urban Affairs enquired about the progress of the mission in the state. In this connection, the state government has spent considerable time in identifying appropriate technology for construction of houses under PMAY (Urban). He also said construction of targeted number of houses for the urban poor, sanctioned by the Centre under PMAY(Urban) will be completed within the stipulated timelines.
