AP fast tracks ₹8,300-cr Vishakhapatnam metro rail

According to the AP state’s minister for municipal administration and urban development Botcha Satyanarayana, the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project has been fast tracked and is being built in three phases during which work on corridors in different routes would be started soon. The main corridor starts from Kurmanapalem to Madhurawada wherein one route will go to East Point Colony, the other to Old Post Office. After the on-going survey of different routes for the project, a comprehensive plan would soon be ready to take up the metro rail project in the city at an estimated cost of ₹8,300 crore. Amaravati Metro Rail project Managing Director Ramakrishna Reddy has been entrusted with the task of executing the project of Vizag Metro and he will prepare the plan of action to kick start the mega project. Initially, corridors covering Gajuwaka, Kommadi, Gurudwara, Thatichetlapalem and Waltair would be developed, and at a later stage areas like Pendurti, Anakapalle, Anandapuram and Bhogapuram will be taken up for metro rail connectivity.
