AP announces 598 km e-way projects

Six Lane Expressway
Unveiling a roadmap for building a six-lane expressway of 598.83 kms, Andhra Pradesh government has recently decided to connect the state's new capital Amaravati with Anantapur district at an investment of Rs. 27,600cr, said the state's Chief Minister, adding that a railway line would also be built parallel to the expressway. In this connection, the Union Transport Minister has already cleared the project last year with funding from the Central Government. The new expressway would crisscross through Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur districts connecting the road network to Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. A separate road, each to Kadapa and Kurnool would also cross the new expressway and will have multiple bridges and tunnels along the e-way for a seamless flow of traffic. Initially, it will be a six-lane road but in future it would be expanded to eight lanes, he added.
