In its quest to build the new state capital matching global standard, the local government in Andhra Pradesh has targeted a staggering investment of Rs. 32,000 crore on the capital city Amaravati. In a recent development, the officials concerned engaged in building the project have been directed by Chief Minister to expedite efforts to get the funds at low interest rates from international financial institutions. In the recently held meeting, the CM also disclosed that in the next 10 years, a whopping sum of Rs. 43,000 crore will be invested on development of Amaravati as a world-class city. Out of the targeted amount, a major chunk will be spent in the first four years on infrastructure like housing, roads, quality power, drinking water, drainage system, and waste management among others. The state is also negotiating with the top ten educational institutions in the world to set up their branches in Amaravati and also to attract corporate hospitals, industries, and star hotels in the upcoming mega city, he claimed.
