American Concrete Institute Releases ACI CODE-318-25 for Structural Concrete Design

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has released the printed version of ACI CODE-318-25: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary, its flagship standard for structural concrete design and construction. This code is a globally recognized reference and has been adopted in building codes across the U.S. and over 75 countries.
ACI CODE-318-25 outlines essential requirements for structural systems such as cast-in-place, precast, shotcrete, plain, prestressed, nonprestressed, and composite concrete construction. The new edition includes key updates: a sustainability appendix aligned with modern practices, revised guidelines for post-installed reinforcing bars, enhanced shear friction provisions, and improved requirements for deep foundations and cantilever or basement wall shear design in all seismic design categories.
“The printed release of ACI CODE-318-25 makes this essential standard even more accessible to jobsite professionals, university classrooms, and engineering firms worldwide,” said Mike Tholen, ACI senior managing director, technical operations.
The 2025 edition is also available via ACI 318 PLUS, a digital platform that includes advanced features like in-document search, notetaking, linked references, and full access to the ACI Detailing Manual and Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook. Both printed and PDF formats can be purchased through the ACI Store.
