ADB finances ₹7,925-cr road network in Nasik region
The state PWD is all set to start the construction of a 2,472-km of roads across Maharashtra, including 293.5-km in the Nashik division at a combined investment of ₹7,925 crore. The projects in question are being taken up with the help of Asian Development Bank (ADB) wherein the development of roads across state will cost ₹7,099 crore of which ₹826 crore will be invested in Nashik division. This is a robust plan of development of roads in order to develop important links between national highways and places of religious or tourist importance and will also connect taluka places with each other or with the district headquarters, a senior PWD official said, adding that the state government does not have funds and is carrying out the task under the hybrid annuity plan wherein vast stretches of the roads are being given for strengthening and widening to meet the emerging demand for the next 10 to 15 years. The roads will be constructed within two years and the contractor will get 60% of the value, while remaining amount will be paid in the next 10 years during which the road will be maintained by the contractor.
