AAI floats tender for ₹987-cr Dholera airport

AAI
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has floated tender for the construction of the first phase of an international airport at Dholera in Gujarat, entailing an investment of ₹987 crore. The new facility is being set up in greenfield city under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project. Located in the north of the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), the upcoming airport aims at catering, not just to DSIR and its hinterland, but also to traffic overflow from the Ahmadabad International Airport. The new international airport, which will be aligned with a fire-station of Category-9, will incorporate a 3,200-mts (metres) runway suitable for type 4E Aircraft. The lack of an international airport in Saurashtra and its vicinity will make the Dholera International Airport strategic and advantageous as it will be an advantage for the aerospace, defence and manufacturing industries keen to invest in the greenfield industrial smart city of Dholera. The state government has allocated 1,427 hectares of land and 75 hectares of government land will be used for commercial development.
