How have you strengthened your position and expanded your business in the subdued demand but competitive phase?
Owing to the overall economic slowdown, we have seen a decline in the demand for all the construction machinery. However, even in these challenging times, we have strengthened our market position in the Backhoe Loaders segment since 2011.
JCB Backhoe Loaders continue to be the most widely used earthmoving equipment in India and we keep upgrading the machine to meet the growing requirements of our customers.
We keep trying to identify markets that show high potential for our products and continue to increase our presence through our distribution network, dealers and outlets. We aim to be as close to our customers as possible and provide them an unparalleled service.
What are the technical advancements being undertaken in the new and existing product range to provide lower operation and maintenance costs?
At JCB, product improvement is a continuous process. We add innovation and hard work to our customers' valued feedback – the result of which is the launch of industry changing products time and again. Safety of the operator is of utmost importance and every OEM's is now designing machines which not only have safety features but also ergonomic features.
Our new and advanced range of Backhoe Loaders improves fuel economy upto 8% with:
- Independent Steering Pump
- New Operator seat with auto shutdown to prevent wastage of fuel
- State of the art "PMAX" feature on 3DX Xtra with 76hp Engine
What initiatives have you taken to reduce the cost of units at your manufacturing facility?
Every manufacturer strives to increase efficiency, productivity and quality while reducing costs through optimized asset utilization and that's where, automation comes into play. At JCB facilities, we have adopted world-class technologies and processes to design and manufacture robust, productive and fuel-efficient products while maintaining high quality standards.
We follow a regimented process for ensuring "Built in Quality" in all the processes and our entire facility is designed and built around this concept. Lean manufacturing principles with NO-Faults-Forward philosophy are the drivers for manufacturing technology.

We have recently launched two new product lines in the Indian market – the Telehandlers known as Loadall and the Skid Steer Loader known as the Robot. These two products along with our existing range will spearhead our expansion program into new markets.
