With infrastructure investments set to go up, equipment sales are estimated to expand at a CAGR of 6.2%.

Investment in infrastructure, utilities, ports, roads & highways are the main growth drivers for the CE industry. Total spend on Infrastructure in the 13th 5-year Plan is estimated at 10% of the GDP, up from 7.6% during the previous Plan. This increased spend on infrastructure will drive growth in construction equipment sales. The trend is already evident as the Indian CE market has been on a strong track and is slated to increase by 50% to around 75,000 units in 2019. With these investments set to go up, demand for construction equipment is expected to rise and equipment sales estimated to expand at a CAGR of 6.2%.

At present, the CE industry is mainly dominated by backhoe loaders (more than 40% of total demand), but a broad-based growth is expected across products, with each segment expected to see growth. However, whilst intentions have been in place, execution would be the key, going forward.

We’re expanding our range of road construction equipment with the launch of the new Motor Grader - Mahindra RoadMaster G90 under the aegis of our Construction Equipment business. Mahindra’s Product Development team has used extensive consumer insight and feedback to design and develop this product so that it can withstand India’s rough terrains and heavy usage. With our in-depth understanding of the needs of road and railway contractors, our aim is to provide them simple, yet optimal solutions with high reliability and low owning and operating costs for higher productivity and profitability.

The G90 is powered by a 91 HP DiTEC engine (developed by Mahindra) and coupled with a 3 m (10 ft) wide blade. It is optimized to deliver zero compromise grading at a fractional 40% cost compared to conventional motor graders, and comes with a one-year, unlimited hours warranty. All this is made possible with Mahindra’s engineering and manufacturing capability at Chakan in Pune, backed by a gruelling testing regime, use of the best components, and simplicity of design.

In fact, G90 has undergone rigorous testing in the harshest of terrains and for the toughest of applications, and has been validated on all performance, safety and reliability parameters. It offers superior quality, operator comfort, and our innovative telematics technology DiGiSENSE, and is backed by Mahindra’s dealer sales and service network across the country

G90 will certainly augment our product portfolio as it is an optimal solution for constructing medium roads and state highways and for widening national highways. It is also apt for applications such as embankment or earthwork for laying of railway tracks and levelling of large plots for industrial construction and ports.
