Harpreet Singh Wahan, G M - Sales & Marketing - India, Murphy by Enovation Controls
What is your view on the growth of the CE industry in the wake of the government’s focus on infrastructure development?
At Murphy, we believe that moving into 2017, the Mining, Construction and Material Handling Equipment Industry has a very positive outlook. The government’s focus on Infra development has resulted in considerable activity on the ground, and this should result in improved sales for the equipment manufacturers in the coming 6 – 8 months.
Is the CE sector fully geared to usher in GST from April 2017? How do you see its impact on the industry?
GST will get the Industry thinking for a while. It will have more to do with an inherent fear of the unpredictable rather than what can actually happen. As a country, it is something that’s needed and the CE industry will play its part in supporting the government’s actions on it.
The market is maturing from basic to more sophisticated equipment. What technical improvisations are you making in your products?
We have been in India for close to 6 years now and have first-hand seen the transition. The OEMs were earlier satisfied to offer basic features but now want to add features and make their equipment more user-friendly, safe, and efficient. Murphy believes in Total Equipment Integration and that brings with it the modularity that allows OEMs to add features as there is a demand from the end-user.
Strong after-sales services and spare parts availability are also key selling points. How is your company strengthening its position in these areas?
After-sales service is important, but the focus should be on First Time Right. Engineering the equipment and its features right, with quality levels that vastly reduce downtime and loss of production. We have, this year, increased our Application Engineering strength in India by 20% and should take it up again in 2017.
What will be the company’s focus during its participation at bauma Conexpo India 2016?
bC India has always provided a great platform to showcase our products and most importantly give a fist-hand feel to our prospective customers. The products we are launching should create quite a buzz as a few of them are game changers in the industry. I am sure, this time around, there will be fruitful interactions with our prospective customer base at the Expo.
What products and services will be launched/displayed at the show?
We are launching a Drill Management System, a Weighing System (Forklifts, Stackers and Wheel Loaders) and the TEC-10 Panel at the expo (Hall 1 – Stand H32).
The Drill Management System (DAS) will be a game-changer in the Industry coming in with best-in-class features at OEM pricing. Drill OEMs will benefit greatly as they will not have to pay for a system designed primarily for the after-market. It also brings with it the advantages of Total Equipment Management where Drill engine, the Compressor engine, the hydraulics and other functions of the Drill are also managed.
The TEC-10 is an IP67 rated sealed panel for outdoor use, in applications like Compressors, Pumps, Marine (Fishing Trawlers, Barges), Drills and any rugged Panel requirement. The TEC-10 is a fully sealed unit, and ready to use in the harshest of conditions, and very importantly, eliminates a lot of hassle for the OEMs.
