Hailstone
Every product of ours is aimed at bringing cost-effectiveness, and, with Hailstone, there is no need for multiple machines as sand and aggregates can be produced in a single setup, thus cutting down overall operational costs.
Williams RJ - Managing Director, Hailstone
What innovations in your product offerings are helping in the construction of large-scale infrastructure projects and in cutting down operational costs?
All of Hailstone’s products are designed for large-scale infrastructure projects. Our sustainability goals reflect in our product design; for instance, our hybrid-electric technology improves fuel efficiency and minimises emissions. The advanced automation in our products ensures consistent, high-quality output and optimised uptime, which is one of the key aspects of large-scale products. For example, our SMART VSI and cone crushers are engineered to produce high-quality M-sand and precisely graded aggregates. Yet another classic example is our semi mobile series Smart Crusher which combines jaw, cone and screening stages in a compact, energy-efficient format.
How is your company leveraging advancements such as AI, IoT, and autonomous systems to improve operational efficiency, safety, and project timelines?
We have incorporated AI-powered predictive maintenance systems in our machinery which allows real-time monitoring. Hailstone machines have IoT-enabled sensors which transmit real-time data on fuel consumption, vibration and temperature to the central dashboard.
Customers are appreciating our products as the need for manual inspection is reduced and the real-time decision-making capacity is enhanced. Our semi-autonomous controls and smart crusher designs reduce operator intervention, promoting safety by minimizing human interaction with active equipment. Advanced automation in crushing and screening ensures high precision and consistency, maintains quality control, and significantly reduces project delays.
How is Hailstone innovating to reduce energy consumption, minimize emissions, and incorporate green technology in its equipment?
Our electric crushers and screens are designed to reduce fuel consumption, cutting operational costs by up to 25% compared to conventional equipment. Our customers confirm the measurable change in results, especially in terms of emission reduction. We are using lower-emission diesel engines and optimised engine configurations. Our hybrid crushers are being used in a large metro rail development project wherein the carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by over 15% while maintaining peak efficiency. We are also exploring options to integrate renewable energy sources.
What factors are helping the company in cementing its export business?
Our focus on continuous innovation and customisation is helping us cement our position in the global scenario. Our advanced technology in crushers, screens, and hybrid systems provide unique advantages like energy efficiency, reduced emissions, and high operational uptime, which are essential in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Our value-for-money products which have longevity are being used by customers globally. We also offer flexible financing options and after-sales services to enhance the value proposition. We have strong partnerships with local distributors and service providers across key markets, which is helping our exports.
How is Hailstone optimizing its manufacturing processes and addressing supply chain issues?
To optimise manufacturing processes and overcome supply chain challenges, we have implemented lean manufacturing principles, and have automated key stages of production to help customers streamline their operations and lower costs. By using Hailstone products, customers are able to meet delivery deadlines with the highest quality output.
Over the years, we have established strategic partnership with trusted suppliers and logistics companies, which aids our operations. We always maintain optimal stock levels, which is another major factor in our customer support.
How can the government and industry work together to attract global companies in India’s construction sector?
The Central government is already offering targeted incentives to attract investments in the manufacturing sector. Many global giants are setting up their manufacturing facilities in India. On the other hand, the Make-in-India initiative is ensuring that more and more Indian manufacturers produce indigenous products.
In fact, the government and industry are working very closely now. Investments are increasing in green technologies, and this is helping to reduce emissions and enhance sustainability. India’s growing infrastructure and transportation networks are further helping the cause.
What changes do you think would have an immediate positive impact on the global competitiveness of India’s construction equipment industry?
Although industry and government are working together, more needs to be done to strengthen their partnership in streamlining operations and fostering innovation. I would like to see more joint investments in R&D, more innovation hubs and technology parks, which will also nurture talent and bring in quality workforce to the industry. We need to adopt technologies like Robotics, Automation, AI, and IoT more and more. We must also watch our carbon footprint and work continuously on sustainability. The government processes should be more user-friendly and fully digitalised.
