Efforts to reduce GHG and minimize environmental impact
In 2021, GS Caltex set up a dedicated organization to actively respond to climate issues. As concerned participants, we are working on a number of projects to develop a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality, including finding ways to reduce greenhouse gases with a long-term perspective, as well as uncovering business opportunities to secure a new profit pool.
In addition to the ongoing efforts to reduce GHG and minimize the environmental impact of our major businesses, GS Caltex seeks to expand the possibilities of sustainable development by pursuing new eco-friendly businesses.
In response to the global mega-trend on energy conversion, we are focusing on a more efficient use of energy and on creating a circular economy for carbon reduction. This has led to tangible progress in the areas of hydrogen, waste plastic recycling and white bio. As an expression of our commitment to the environment, we launched our integrated eco-friendly brand, ‘Energy Plus Eco’ in April 2022.
Using lubricant brands that support circular economy
The new and more advanced Kixx lubricants have been developed to meet the country’s demand for eco-friendly equipment. These lubricants are available globally direct from GS Caltex Corporation Korea:
KIXX EV Fluids: To keep pace with the innovations of the automotive industry, Kixx has developed a new product line optimized for EVs. Formulated with GS Caltex’s high-quality base oil and high-performing additives, Kixx’s Electric Vehicle Fluid range delivers improved durability and efficiency for EVs. By conducting in-depth research and working closely with manufacturers, Kixx will continue to develop lubricants and fluids to help EV drivers get the most out of their cars.
Kixx HYBRID: This premium, fully synthetic engine oil is specially designed for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV). Formulated from VHVI base oils and high-performance additive systems, Kixx HYBRID provides enhanced engine oil performance, engine durability, and improved fuel efficiency. In addition, it is an eco-friendly product which minimizes CO2 emissions through fuel consumption reduction.
Kixx Gear EP S Wind: This advanced synthetic industrial gear oil provides outstanding lubrication under extreme operating conditions of wind power generation equipment, helps in reducing friction, provides longer service life, and has high resistance to micro-pitting for optimal gear protection.
Kixx RF P 85: This is a highly refined polyol ester-based refrigeration compressor oil blended with state-of-the-art additives that has miscibility with various refrigerants, especially low GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerant. This is an advanced eco-friendly refrigeration compressor oil that has excellent wear protection performance and chemical stability.
