Growth Ahead - Gurvinder Singh, Director, Amrik Singh & Sons Crane Service
What will drive demand of cranes and heavy vehicles such as trailers and hydraulic axles in the foreseeable future?
We foresee a huge demand for cranes and other heavy vehicles in the Indian Infrastructure and logistic industry. In addition to the ongoing projects, multiple projects are expected to start within the next few months. These include major expansions in infra-projects, high speed trains, wind energy, refineries, steel, cement, etc. All these will drive demand and growth in the cranes and heavy vehicles’ industries.
In which segments is your company most involved in and what does your fleet comprise of?
We have a presence in almost all the segments of the industry, especially, Infra projects & wind energy. There is stiff competition in the market and to sustain or expand business, we have to keep our fleet of machines regularly upgraded with the latest innovations, technology and new products, in order to provide the best solutions and services to clients.
The key to success in any project is to facilitate maximum efficiency and time management. Young, updated machines will give optimum performance and output as they would incur minimum or nil breakdowns.
We have a huge fleet comprising cranes of 30 to 800 tons, Truck Mounted, All Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Heavy Trailers, Hydraulic Axles with Pullers, Piling Rigs and Boom Lifts etc. We are the only rental company in the country who helped Suzlon Energy Ltd. to erect India’s tallest and maximum power generation capacity (2.8 MW) windmill. We used our 650 Tons Sany 6500A crawler crane to install the windmill ( tower height 140-m and Roter Dia 133m ) whose overall erected height is over 200 m.

Do you have any plans to acquire new cranes and trailers?
Expanding our fleet is an ongoing process, because with every project that we come across, our aim is to offer the best of our resources – in machines and manpower. Moreover, we keep adding new and more advanced machines since infra projects are becoming larger and more complex. We are certain that the next few years will see increase in demand and have accordingly made plans for substantial investments in new machines and in strengthening our support network.
In fact, we see 2020 as the beginning of a decade of growth and infra development in the country, which will open up huge opportunities for the CE rental sector, and we are gearing up accordingly.
