As per available data, India’s logistics costs as a percentage of GDP stand at 14%, which is much higher than the 8-9% range observed in developed countries. To address this issue, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has initiated developing Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) at selected locations under its Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Program (LEEP). In November 24, honourable Minister MoRTH, Shri Nitin Gadkari, had announced the setting up of 35 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) in India, four of which are to come up in Maharashtra.
