DB Schenker serves a diverse range of industries, each with specific needs for heavy lifting and ODC solutions. We support the energy sector with logistics for wind, solar, and conventional energy projects, ensuring safe transport of heavy equipment like turbines and transformers. In construction, we manage the logistics of transporting essential machinery and oversized structural components. Our expertise extends to the oil and gas industry, where we facilitate the movement of drilling rigs and extraction equipment.
In mining, we tackle the challenges of transporting heavy machinery and raw materials to remote locations. For the manufacturing sector, we ensure timely delivery of large-scale machinery. We serve the shipbuilding industry by managing the transport of oversized components critical to shipyard operations. However, we are not limited to these industries, as we also serve a wide array of sectors, adapting our services to meet the unique challenges of each.
Case Study
Project: Transportation of 240 wind turbine blades for Envision Energy, a global leader in renewable energy solutions and India's top wind turbine supplier. The project required transport of the blades from the Sheyang production plant in China to Kandla Port in India, focusing on optimal routes for oversized cargo.

Duration: May to December 2024
Infrastructure: Transporting the blades, each measuring 76.8 meters and weighing nearly 19.3 tons, necessitated specialized infrastructure. The total volume of the project was nearly 274,000 cubic meters, totalling a combined weight of 4,600 tons. This included suitable ports, roadways, and transportation vehicles capable of handling such large loads. DB Schenker’s Global Projects & Industry Solutions team managed all aspects of logistics, including pick-up, export clearance, loading, ocean freight, and unloading, to ensure smooth operations.
Safety Measures: To safeguard the blades during transport, stringent safety measures were implemented. These included secure loading practices, real-time monitoring during transit, and appropriate unloading techniques to prevent damage.
Training: DB Schenker provided specialized training for all personnel involved in the project, focusing on handling oversized cargo and adhering to safety protocols to minimize risks.

Other Parties Involvement: Collaboration with various stakeholders, including local authorities and port management, was essential for the project's success. Close cooperation between teams in China and India enhanced efficiency and reliability. However, the project faced challenges such as navigating complex logistics for oversized cargo, ensuring compliance with regulations, and addressing potential delays due to weather or port congestion. Overcoming these obstacles required meticulous planning and effective real-time problem-solving throughout the project.
