Prensoland Showcases Machinery and Durable Slabs for Seismic Zones
Mr. Udey Hans Sardana, Area Manager – India, Prensoland, informed, "This time, we are showcasing slabs and other products which can be manufactured through our machines and are ideal for seismic zones. We are exhibiting profiles for Zone-4. Earthquakes are a regular occurrence in areas such as Delhi and its outskirts, and these slabs can do the wonders there. We are marketing our products along with people who design the product because we feel that designing is essential."

He strongly feels that the tax structure needs to be revamped if this industry is to flourish. "Let's take fly-ash bricks for instance. The manufacturer has to pay 12.5% excise duty, and VAT on fly-ash bricks is 5%. Hollow Blocks attract 12.5% Excise duty and VAT @ 12.5%. This is not the same for Red bricks, which are a threat to the environment. The tax policies of the government are not in sync with their statements about promoting environment friendly products. This is hurting our industry quite badly and there should be positive changes." According to him, the involvement of Thermal Power Producers (TPPs) can take the fly-ash brick industry to the next level. "Millions of tones of fly-ash is generated at Thermal Power Plants. TPPs should invest in captive fly-ash making plants, because for them this investment is peanuts."
