Curetec's Concrete Curing System: Faster production times & Energy savings

Managing Director, Curetec

Curetec continues to push the boundaries of energy-efficient technologies, with its advanced energy-saving Concrete Curing System, providing faster production times, and ensuring superior concrete quality.
André Dienst - Managing Director, Curetec

The global construction industry is evolving rapidly, and with it, the demand for sustainable and efficient solutions in concrete curing technology has intensified. As urbanization surges, especially across the Asia-Pacific, the focus on innovation and sustainability has never been more critical. Curetec, a leading provider of cutting-edge concrete curing systems, has consistently been at the forefront of these technological advancements.

Today, Curetec is the largest supplier of concrete curing systems globally, offering state-of-the-art solutions designed to meet the industry's stringent requirements. With a robust research and development program, the company continues to push the boundaries of energy-efficient technologies, providing faster production times, and ensuring superior concrete quality.

Growing Demand for Efficient Curing Solutions

Infrastructure development, particularly in emerging markets like India and China, is driving the need for high-quality, durable, and cost-effective construction solutions. As concrete plays a pivotal role in these projects, the curing process becomes essential in determining the final strength and durability of concrete products. However, traditional curing methods are often energy-intensive, costly, and environmentally unfriendly. This is where Curetec's advanced curing technologies come into play, offering a more sustainable, efficient, and precise approach to curing concrete.

Curetec’s systems have been designed with a focus on reducing energy consumption while maintaining strict temperature control, ensuring the highest standards of concrete durability and quality. The company’s flagship technology, the CureSteam system, is powered by the innovative Low-Pressure Steam Generator (NDG). This system not only provides unparalleled energy savings, but also ensures precise temperature management, critical for producing high-quality concrete components.

Curetec’s Curing Technology in Major Infrastructure Projects

One of Curetec’s latest success stories comes from its collaboration with Shudao Investment Group Co., Ltd., a major player in China’s infrastructure sector. Shudao selected Curetec Shanghai as the primary supplier for its two large-scale infrastructure production facilities. These projects exemplify the critical role that Curetec’s curing systems play in delivering high-quality, durable concrete components while significantly reducing energy consumption.

The first project, located in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, is an automated facility for the production of turnout sleepers for China’s expanding high-speed railway network. The facility emphasizes automated production, efficiency, and the highest quality standards to meet the stringent requirements of the Chinese Railway authorities. A key challenge was the installation of 14 fully automated curing rooms, responsible for post-treating concrete to ensure maximum durability while supporting the facility’s productivity goals.

The meticulous curing regime implemented at this facility, involved a controlled heating phase where the concrete temperature is increased by ≤15º C per hour to a maximum of 50º C. This is followed by a four-hour hold at peak temperature, after which the temperature is decreased at a controlled rate of ≤15º C per hour, until it reaches within 10º C of the ambient temperature. Throughout the entire process, the temperature must not deviate by more than ±3º C from the set values, ensuring consistency and durability in the final product.

Curetec’s decision to implement the CureSteam system at this facility, featuring the NDG, was a game-changer. The NDG, with a capacity of up to 2400 kWh, is at the heart of the system, ensuring that only the required amount of energy is generated. This has resulted in energy savings of 50% or more, compared to conventional steam boilers. Additionally, ventilation and humidification systems were installed in all curing rooms to regulate temperature fluctuations caused by hydration heat, ensuring optimal curing conditions even in high external temperatures.

Following the success of this project, Shudao Investment Group opted to utilize Curetec’s curing technology in its second major facility in Chengdu. This new mega factory produces a variety of precast concrete components, including bridge elements, tunnel segments, support structures, track slabs, and pre-stressed heavy track sleepers for high-speed railways. Once again, Curetec’s advanced curing systems were able to meet the demanding temperature control tolerances without any issues, delivering both the energy efficiency and high productivity required for such a large-scale operation.

Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

What sets Curetec apart from its competitors is its relentless focus on research and development. The company is constantly innovating to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its curing systems, ensuring that its clients are always ahead of the curve in terms of both technology and sustainability. Curetec’s systems are designed not only to reduce energy consumption but also to minimize waste and emissions, making them an environmentally friendly option for companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

The production speed and service delivery across the Asia-Pacific region are greatly enhanced by Curetec’s production and service center in Shanghai. This strategic location allows Curetec to provide faster turnaround times for its clients, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule without compromising on quality. In a region where infrastructure development is booming, this capability is a significant competitive advantage.

Shaping the Future of Concrete Curing

Curetec’s energy-saving concrete curing technology is transforming the way infrastructure projects are executed in Asia-Pacific and beyond. With its advanced systems, the company is helping clients reduce energy consumption, improve productivity, and ensure the highest standards of concrete durability. As the largest supplier of concrete curing systems globally, Curetec’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction continues to set new benchmarks for the industry.

For infrastructure developers, especially in fast-growing markets like India and China, investing in Curetec’s cutting-edge technology means not only achieving superior project outcomes but also contributing to a more sustainable future. The success of Curetec’s collaboration with Shudao Investment Group underscores the value of integrating advanced curing technologies into large-scale infrastructure projects, where energy efficiency and quality cannot be compromised.
