YEIDA to build Rs.10,000 cr airport
In a recent development, the state government has picked up the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to be the nodal agency to set up the international airport in Jewar, Greater Noida, at an investment of Rs.10,000 crore. In this connection, a decision has recently been taken at a high-level meeting held in Lucknow. YEIDA will work on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government and start acquiring land for the airport and funds amounting to nearly Rs.4,000 crore for the first phase of the project will be provided by the state government, Chairperson, YEIDA, Prabhat Kumar said. Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar; Director, Civil Aviation department, UP, Devendra Swarup; Principal Secretary, industries Alok Sinha and Prabhat Kumar, were among other attendees. The airport project is proposed to be developed in three phases on a 3,000-hectare land and in the first phase, it needs nearly 1,250 hectares (3,000 acres) for the mega project.
