Railway
The Western Railway has recently cleared two major railway projects for Pune including the development of the Hadapsar station into a full-fledged terminal and re-modeling of the Pune railway yard and both the projects have picked up pace following the recent clearance of funds. In this connection, railway official sources said that they have received ₹36 crore for the Hadapsar terminal and are confident of completing the project by March next year. The plan is to construct two extra lines, a proper station building and other facilities for the passengers. Once the terminal gets ready, the pressure on the Pune station can be reduced drastically as score of trains can originate from the Hadapsar terminal. While the construction work on the remodeling of the Pune yard, which mainly included extension of platforms to accommodate trains with over 20 compartments, has also been started with the receipt of Rs.52 crore for the project. The work will be executed in six stages and the project will be completed within two years. Among others, the remodeling will include allied aspects such as easing the tracks of the present crisscross system, which will automatically increase the speed of the trains.
