US keen to build V'patnam smart city

In view of the huge future business opportunities in the country's smart city projects, the United States has expressed its readiness to build the Visakhapatnam smart city project. In this connection, recently a high powered delegation visited the state and held detailed negotiation with the Andhra Pradesh chief minister and the empowered officials. The delegation has promised all help to develop Visakhapatnam as a world-class smart city and improve all round connectivity to ensure a numerous value added services with distinctive delivery mechanism. As a matter of fact, negotiations veered round connectivity related issues. Senior Advisor on Technology and Internet Policy to the Under Secretary of State, US Department of State, Nese Guendelsberger, Deputy Chief, International Bureau, Federation Communications Commission, Steve Traylor, Executive Director and General Counsel, National Association of Telecommunications 'Officers and Advisors (NATOA) and Aimee Meacham, Director, Broadband Service, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, were part of the delegation. The US is keen on popularizing best practices in digital technology, job skills and job development using Internet, they stressed.
