In a recent development, the UP government has approved a six-lane expressway connecting Meerut in western UP to Prayagraj on the eastern fringes of the state. The ₹36,000 crore project, when commissioned, will be world's longest e-way with a length of 600 km directly connecting various cities such as Meerut, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Kannauj, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and finally Prayagraj. The full stretch of Ganga Expressway will establish high speed connectivity between Greater Noida on the outskirts of Delhi, Ballia in UP, and will also connect Delhi, Varanasi and Allahabad. The state cabinet also gave approval to a 91-km Purvanchal Expressway link road to Gorakhpur, said an official spokesperson.
