UP targets 25 big-ticket infra projects across state

The state government in Uttar Pradesh has identified 25 big ticket projects to be implemented on priority in the next five years and to achieve this, it has set up a five-member Project Monitoring Group spearheaded by the chief secretary to oversee these projects on regular basis. The projects included the Bundelkhand Expressway being launched shortly and the Jewar International Airport is all set to take up construction work in January next year. Work on the defence corridor in UP is also stated to start in February. The projects also include the Purvanchal Expressway, Ganga Expressway and the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Metro projects in Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Bareilly also figure in the priority list. Other projects identified as top-level priorities are the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli, universities in Azamgarh, Aligarh and Saharanpur. A medical university in the name of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee is also on the high-priority list, along with the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor in Varanasi and tourism development in Ayodhya, Mathura and Varanasi also figure in the priority list, the state government said in an official statement.
