UP takes up ₹751-cr Lucknow-Kanpur road project

Lucknow-Kanpur road project
The construction work on the Lucknow-Kanpur greenfield expressway, involving an investment of ₹751 crore, is all set to start. Home Minister Rajnath Singh, MP from Lucknow, informed that next year, on December 25, the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, vehicles will start plying seamlessly on the Kisan Path and Lucknow to Kanpur will become a 45-minute drive. The construction of the cloverleaf interchange, which will connect the Outer Ring Road and Purvanchal Expressway, will be completed by 2022. Likewise, the Outer Ring Road near Kakori will be directly connected to the Agra Expressway. The erection of the 11-km long Kisan Path is slated to start at the end of this year. After completion, this stretch will have around 42,000 vehicles passing through it as PWD is also building a 2-km long service lane at the cost of ₹24 crore. After the flyover is built, this road will still be accessible for local vehicles and NHAI is further planning to construct a road from there towards Rae Bareilly Road.
