UP plans Rs.3.5-bn townships in Ayodhya

Uttar Pradesh government has decided to develop 'New Ayodhya' township spanning across 500 acres at a whopping investment worth Rs.3.5 billion. The township which will be built on the bank of river Saryu, would come up near Majha Barhata and Jaisingh Mau villages along the Lucknow-Gorakhpur National Highway. Prior to this, in an attempt to add luster to the historical place by boosting tourism, the state government under Corporate Social Responsibility has sought the help of corporate houses for construction of a grand 100-metre statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya at a cost of Rs.3.30 billion.
