Kanpur-Metro-Proj
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has announced an ambitious plan to build a 1,575-km metro network across the state by 2047. The rollout begins with major expansions in existing metro cities, 225 km in Lucknow, 200 km in Kanpur and 100 km in Agra.

The roadmap also proposes 150-km corridors each for Noida–Greater Noida, Varanasi and Prayagraj, while Gorakhpur, Ayodhya and Meerut are planned to get 50 km networks each. Around 790 km of the network is targeted for completion by 2035.

The project is financially viable, with the state’s share for the initial 525 km expansion estimated at Rs 1,040 crore per year.

This long-term metro vision aims to significantly strengthen urban mobility, reduce congestion and support the state’s economic growth over the next two decades.
