Andhra Pradesh Approves 16,000-Acre Land Pooling for Amaravati Expansion; Plans Inner Ring Road, Railway Hub & Sports City

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana announced that the Cabinet has approved the second phase of land pooling, covering over 16,000 acres, to accelerate the expansion of the greenfield capital city of Amaravati.

The plan includes construction of an Inner Ring Road (IRR), a new railway station and tracks, and a world-class international sports city. Of the 16,666 acres to be pooled, 7,562 acres will come from Vaikuntapuram, Pedda Madduru, Endrai and Karlapudi, while 9,104.57 acres will be pooled from Vaddamanuru, Harishchandrapuram and Peddaparimi. An additional 3,828 acres of government land is also available, though much of it is hilly.

Narayana said smart industry development is essential for Amaravati’s growth and real estate value. He added that the region cannot develop without an international airport, which is why Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has prioritised its construction with a 30-year action plan.

The proposed sports city, earlier allotted only 70 acres, will now span 2,500 acres, enabling Amaravati to host major global sporting events, including the Olympics. Officials are also preparing land pooling plans for the airport and smart industrial zones as part of Amaravati’s long-term development blueprint.
