UP launches Rs. 3,884-cr metro link

In an initiative to connect interior areas of Noida and Greater Noida on the outskirts of the national capital, UP Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav recently laid the foundation stone of the 15 km metro link from Noida's Sector 71 to Greater Noida's Knowledge Park-V. The metro link will benefit around 10 lakh residents who have bought flats along the route, chairman of the Noida authority and the principal secretary of UP Industrial Development Department, Rama Raman said. It may be recalled that the Union ministry of urban development in June 2016, had approved the detailed project report (DPR) of the metro link, which is slated to cost Rs.3,884-cr and will be funded by the Noida, Greater Noida authorities, and the Centre. After laying the foundation stone of this project, the Noida and Greater Noida boards will complete the formalities and seek required approvals from the UP government to commence work on the ground and the construction work on the project is set to start early next year, he said.
