UP infuses ₹675-cr funds in twin expressways

To ensure a smooth flow of funds for the construction of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressway projects, the UP Government has infused ₹675 crore for the twin road projects. UP Expressway and Industrial Development Authority informed that ₹325 crore has been pushed in the 340-km long Lucknow-Ghazipur Purvanchal Expressway and a sum of ₹350 crore has been made available for the completion of 296-km Bundelkhand expressway directly connecting Chitrakoot with Etawah on Agra-Lucknow expressway. The two projects are also financially supported by the Centre under a scheme for special assistance to states for capital expenditure. The state government has asked UPEIDA to provide fund utilization certificate to the industry department and the accountant general whenever required. The department has asked UPEIDA to ensure that the funds are properly utilized for the intended purposes only as per the norms laid down by the state finance department.
