UP Govt approves ₹2,890-cr for Phase-II of Jewar airport

UP Government has approved over ₹2,890 crore for land acquisition for Phase-II of the Jewar International Airport project in Noida. The funds will be used for the acquisition of 1,186 hectares of land for the expansion of the airport. Various departments of state government have been asked to part with their land free of cost. A total of 1363.45 hectares are to be handed over to the Zurich AG subsidiary, which will develop the airport and is expected to build the third runway over the land of which 1186 hectares are privately owned. In totality, the district administration will offer ₹2,300 for a sqm to the farmers of six villages under the Jewar tehsil for giving up their land for the second phase. During the acquisition of 1,334 hectares of land for the first phase, the government had paid compensation at the rate of ₹2,300 per sqm as the first phase was also planned over an area of land belonging to six villages including Rohi, Parohi, Banwaribas, Kishorpur, Dayanatpur and Ranhera. The six villages where chunks have to be acquired are Ranhera, Kureb, Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Berampur and Mundhera.
