Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Reviews Power Sector in Rajasthan

Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, reviewed Rajasthan’s power sector during a meeting held in Jaipur, which was also attended by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state.
The meeting began with a presentation outlining the achievements of the State Energy Department and the current power scenario. Key challenges and potential solutions were also discussed.
Shri Manohar Lal appreciated the state’s efforts in infrastructure planning for power generation, transmission, and distribution. He urged the state to expedite the implementation of sanctioned projects under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and to adopt the recommended reforms.
The Minister emphasized the phased rollout of smart metering, starting with government establishments, followed by commercial and industrial consumers. He also stressed the importance of achieving DISCOM viability through targeted efforts.
Highlighting the state’s renewable energy potential, he assured full support from the Government of India for the RE evacuation plan through both inter-state and intra-state transmission systems, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to Rajasthan’s power sector development.
