Ultra-modern Hyperloop bets big on ₹70k-cr Mumbai-Pune rail link

According to transport tech firm Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO), the Hyperloop system is poised to be the most energy-efficient mode of mass transportation globally. The Los Angeles-based Virgin Hyperloop, in partnership with Climate Week NYC, made its announcement from Rockefeller Plaza at Rockefeller Center in New York City, where it showcased its XP-1 test vehicle from the Nevada test track. Hyperloop, an ultramodern, superfast transport project will link Mumbai and Pune located 200 km apart and the distance between the two cities will be covered in just 23 minutes. Founder of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson said that the transport system needs big ideas like the Hyperloop to reach zero-emission transport while rapidly connecting people and goods. CEO of Virgin Hyperloop One, Jay Walder informed that the company has successfully tested its hyperloop technology at scale, launching the first new mode of mass transportation in over 100 years. The Maharashtra project will be financed by FDI, and will take seven years to complete at an investment of ₹70,000 crore. In the first phase, the project will be run on a pilot basis for 11.8 km in the Pune Metropolitan region at a cost of ₹5,000 crore.
