Ensuring smooth flow of vehicular traffic in the national capital, the Urban Development ministry will construct three tunnel projects of Rs.700 crore, said official sources, claiming that the first tunnel road will connect Mathura Road to Ring Road via Bhairon Marg near Pragati Maidan and the second tunnel road will connect Bhairon Marg to Ring Road, while the third will start from Mathura Road to Bhairon Marg. On the commissioning of these projects, these roads will provide relief to commuters using Bhairon Marg to reach Ring Road and the new roads will also ease traffic at ITO, Mandi House, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, and Pragati Maidan. The tunnel roads will be each 1 km to 2.5 km long, short enough to make them cost-effective and allow motorists to enter and exit at faster speed, they claimed.
