U'khand approves ₹2,200-cr extensive mobility network

The extensive Mobility Plan of the Uttarakhand Metro project entailing an investment worth ₹2,200 crore got approved from the state government. The project includes the construction of the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) project in Haridwar city and the construction work of Metro Light in Haridwar to Rishikesh and Nepali Farm to Vidhan Sabha Corridor. The state government is building the ropeway system in Dehradun, Rishikesh along with Haridwar to decongest traffic in the city and has also approved the metro project from Haridwar-Rishikesh and Dehradun-Nepali Farm. The state has awarded the contract of the ropeway projects in the Dehradun city to the DMRC and also delivered the first instalment of ₹43.30 lakh. State urban development minister, Madan Kaushik informed that till date the ropeway system is not being utilized as a mode of mass transport at any other place in India and Dehradun will be the 1st city to adopt this system with twin routes, one from Forest Research Institute – Rispana Bridge by Clock Tower and the 2nd one from ISBT – Madhuban Hotel by Clock Tower.
